INVENTORS' ASSOCIATION OF NEW ENGLAND

MEETING INFORMATION
Meetings are held at M.I.T. Bldg.# 4, Room 231 at 77 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA.  They are typically held on the second  Monday of each month except holidays. This web site will contain the latest Meeting Information. Contact IANE  for further info.  Regular IANE  Meetings start at 7 PM and run to approx. 9:30 PM.   You should plan to arrive at 6:30 PM for pre-meeting networking.  Networking also continues after the regular meeting.  Membership is currently at $40/year and includes a monthly newsletter and other member benefits.  Guests and nonmembers are welcome at all of our monthly meetings.  A suggested $5 contribution is graciously accepted at the door to partially defray operating costs of our not-for- profit organization which is run entirely by volunteers. NOTE SPEAKER CHANGES HERE AND COMING ATTRACTIONS:

May 12, 2008: SPEAKER/TOPIC: John Rocheleau will discuss his 10-year experience as an independent inventor, starting with his first invention idea and culminating with his recent settlement with a Licensee of 5 inventions - presently, all industry standards. Elements of this "open forum" will include, finding an angel investor, negotiating 2 License Agreements, enforcing accurate royalty reporting, his meetings with the FBI and a world-class investigative firm in New York, and, ultimately, 'Davey beating Goliath'.  His highly recommended story may be found at http://www.protechhvac.com/lessons-in-invention-development-the-naive-years.
 

COMING ATTRACTIONS

June 9, 2008: SPEAKER/TOPIC:  Keith Bibby, son of member Ken Bibby, who will discuss lessons from years of developing and selling products to Wal-Mart and QVC. Keith is currently developing large scale solar cells for IP&E in Tyngsboro and teaching innovation in business research and project management at the University of Phoenix.

July 14, 2008: SPEAKER/TOPIC: Ellen Cameron, a Registered Nurse and stay at home mom who invented, patented, and commercialized "Tidy Tot", www.tidy-tots.com; protective covers for restaurant high chairs.  She has since expanded her product line and now has suppliers in several states.

August, 2008: NO MEETING; EVEN INVENTORS DESERVE A BREAK; But always keep their INVENTOR'S NOTEBOOK handy at the beach>>>Just in case of a "FLASH OF GENIUS"!

Fall, 2008:  SPEAKER/TOPIC: Harriet Diamond, cofounder of Eyeglass Rescue.com, which recovers lost eyeglasses by providing the eyeglass owner with a shrink fit sleeve for the temple bar  containing an identification number and 1-800 phone number to enable return of the glasses to their rightful owner and a reward to the finder.

THE INVENTORS CLINIC
 
At the Inventors Clinic, where inventors help inventors, ideas can be discussed and critiqued under confidentiality.  Presenters are allotted a half hour to discuss their invention idea.  There are typically three presentations per meeting.  For each presentation a separate confidentiality document is signed by all in attendance  which additionally gives ownership to the presenter of any ideas generated at the meeting or as a result of it.
